Privacy and your data
What stays on your device, what is sent, and what is stored.
Your data can be in three places: on your device, in processing while a run is going, and in your account.
On your device
- Your War Room chat history.
- A local memory file the app uses to recall earlier work.
- A local diagnostic log, on by default. It never contains chat content, prompts or code (
sami.privacy.localObservabilityLogs.enabled). - A War Room transcript log, off by default. If you turn it on, it can include prompts, code and model output (
sami.privacy.warRoomChatTranscriptLog.enabled). - Crash reports, off by default (
sami.telemetry.enabled).
Sent for processing
Your task, the context you attach or the council reads, and the results of tool calls go to SAMI's service and on to the AI model providers for the run in progress. Images you attach are passed on to the model provider, not stored by SAMI. Voice input is turned into text, and SAMI does not keep the recording.
Stored in your account
- Your account, billing and usage records.
- A record of each council run (stages, votes, results and cost) so you can replay it.
- Prompts you save with SAMI: Save Prompt.
- On paid plans, the key decisions of earlier runs on the same project.
No training on your data
SAMI does not train AI models on your data. See the AI policy.
What the app can do on your machine
Only the Writer changes files or runs commands, and only within the approval level you set. Destructive operations are blocked at every level.
Export and deletion
Export your data from Data export and delete your account from Settings. The Privacy Policy and the Security page have the details.
