The council
Guardians, the Lead and the Writer, and how your council is chosen.
Guardian. Every selected model. Equal vote, every stage, the whole run. There are no separate review or draft models — every Guardian votes with equal weight at every stage.
- Lead
Lead. A per-stage duty: coordinates the discussion and announces the outcome — votes with equal weight. It moves to a different Guardian every stage — a coordination duty, never a higher rank or a super-vote.
- Writer
Writer. A per-stage duty: the only model that writes code or runs commands, at the build stages. It is the only model that writes code, and only at the two build stages — then the duty rotates on.
- No
Binary vote. Each Guardian votes Yes or No — there is no third option. A No never ends the run: it loops back to deliberation, the council brings counter-arguments, and it works toward a genuine Yes. If the objection is not resolved within a bounded number of rounds — or the run budget runs out, or you cancel — the stage moves on with it recorded as unresolved, visible in the War Room.
Every model you select is a Guardian with an equal vote in every stage. Each Guardian reads your project, critiques the proposals on the table and votes.
Lead and Writer are duties, not ranks, and SAMI assigns both for each stage. The Lead coordinates the stage and announces the outcome, without an extra vote. The Writer is the only member that changes files or runs commands; the other Guardians send it their requested changes instead.
A one-model lineup is still a full run: that model carries every duty, and the task still goes through all five stages.
Choosing your council
Run SAMI: Configure Consensus Models to pick the models, or leave the selection empty and SAMI picks a council for your plan. Your choice is saved and stays in place until you change it.
What your plan decides
Your plan decides which models from SAMI's catalog you can pick, how large your council can be, and the credits the plan includes. See Pricing.
No keys to manage
Every model runs through SAMI's managed catalog, so you never handle provider keys. Enterprise customers can add their own provider credentials.
